DIGITAL LITERACY CHAPTER 1
Chapter one gives me idea of what is mainly about technology in our daily lives. As our lives are getting modern, we are being exposed with computers, mobile devices, the Internet, and related technologies.

A computer is an electronic device which is operating under instructions stored which are accepts data (input), processing, produces information (output). Data can be defined as a representation of facts, concepts, or instructions in a formalized manner, which should be suitable for communication, interpretation, or processing by human or electronic machine. Information is organized or classified data, which has some meaningful values for the receiver. Information is the processed data on which decisions and actions are based. Hard disk, USB flash drive, memory card are some of the examples that data and information are being stored in.

Data can be transferred by many ways such as keyboard that contains keys, using voice input to speak data, and to capture live full-motion images using video input. Scanner also one of the machine that can transfer data from a printed paper into a form that can be processed by a computer. An output data can convey information from computer or mobile device to people. A printer, any display of output device, and speaker are the example of output device.
Internet is a platform of many information from the worldwide. A web browser is a software application for accessing information on the World Wide Web. A search engine is a web site that collects and organizes content from all over the internet. Social networking is the use of internet-based social media programs to make connections with friends, family, classmates, customers and clients. The security over the Internet is something that has to be treated very carefully. Cyber crimes are increasing every day and this is a trend that has no sign of reduction, since internet users are increasing every day. Cyber security or information technology security are the techniques of protecting computers, networks, programs and data from unauthorized access or attacks that are aimed for exploitation. Information security protects information from unauthorized access to avoid identity theft and to protect privacy.
Information technology is playing an increasingly important role in the work and personal lives of citizens. Computers, communications, digital information, softwarethe constituents of the information age are everywhere.Between those who search aggressively for opportunities to learn more about information technology and those who choose not to learn anything at all about information technology, there are many who recognize the potential value of information technology for their everyday lives and who realize that a better understanding of information technology will be helpful to them.
